Duffy Assembly

Yesterday, Paihia School held their first Duffy assembly. A Duffy role model came to talk to us about reading and how we use it every day. Her name was Zinky. She looked kinda weird because she was dressed up in rainbow colors everywhere. We sung the Duffy song, meditated and fought crime. She said whoever I see doing the best actions and singing loud will get a million dollar signature. The teachers from each class got to choose two people to go up and get their books and a handshake from Zinky. Then she took a photo with a whole bunch of kids. Then we went to class and received our free Duffy books.

Technology

For the past couple of weeks in Te Ngahere we have been making something of our own choice with pallets/timber. My group and I decided to make a coffee cup holder. We have nearly finished our project and soon it will be ready to use. I think that we did a good job with our project by working together and helping each other,I really enjoyed technology. My favourite part was when we had to dip our hands in the oil because it felt so weird and slimy.

Takeaways

Yesterday, Whaea Gina came to our class  talk about takeaways. She showed us what a healthy heart looks like and what a unhealthy heart looks like. A unhealthy heart has a lot fat around it and a healthy heart has a little bit of fat around it. She showed us a picture of a big mac combo from Mcdonald's she pulled out a little jar to show how much fat we were consuming every time we were digesting that food. The worst one was Carl's Jr , it nearly had a full bottle of fat. Whaea Gina really made me think about what I eat and that we should eat healthier,

Cross country

Last week,we had our school cross country at Bledisloe Domain. When the first race was called up the tuakana ran beside the teina and supported them to the finish line. We had to wait quite a while before it was time for our race. When the teacher said “Go” I started running hard out, we ran up the hill down the hill and sprinted to the finish line. I had fun participating in cross country and I enjoyed not doing any work at school.

Gaming addictions

Today in Te Ngahere, we filled in a survey to show the gaming stats for our class. We were interested to find out about our gaming issues in our class. We filled in a survey about gaming; we had to answer it honestly. We found out that 46% get irritable when their gaming time is limited, 30% have lied to their parents about the amount of time they spend gaming and 16% report that their school work suffers because of gaming. When I seen our results I was shocked. I think I did well with making my infographic and adding lots of information in it. Next time I think I could add some images.
